I know it's not true of everyone, and I know there are problems on both sides of the question, but really, if I were out to write a policy statement, I wouldn't be posting it on lj, now, would I? These are just my feelings at the present moment, so please just allow me my momentary rant

indiana is a strange state, diversity wise. i was caught off balance by all the "diversity education" stuff...in san diego, things were so well mixed, there wasn't a need to parade pitiful statistics (i'm sorry, IU is not diverse on the whole.)

i'm hoping that someday, people are people. end story. by discussing differences, even positively, you're still reinforcing the differentness. (we should all be different, but based on who we are. like, i'm different, because i'm spastic and klutzy and an emotional rollercoaster. that sort of thing should matter more.)
