So, before Season 6 started, I thought to myself,
‘Wouldn’t it be great fun to write up a recap/review/squeepost for each of the new episodes?'
I’ve been a fan of this show since the very first episode, after all, and wouldn’t it be simply glorious fun to document my impressions, thoughts, emotional reactions, and general meta ramblings, in response to the latest season of my well-loved favourite show?
Well, yes, it would be fun. It would also be way too much work.
(Luckily, I have missbuterfly to inspire me, even if this time is was kinda by accident.)
Thus I present to you my Season 6 recap/review/meta/squeeage series....
OF ONLY THE BITS RELEVANT TO HOUSE/CUDDY.
Convenient, yes? Fun? Absolutely!
Far less work? Oh hella yes.
Bring it on.
I’ll make this a weekly thing, but I’ll attempt to catch up with the first couple of episodes in the next few days, so by the time I get to see ‘Brave Heart’ on Tuesday or Wednesday (AEST), I should be just about up to date.
And then I’ll have a spare week or so to die of anticipation of episode 7.
Some notes:
♠ I have no intention of curtailing my tendency to reference spoilers in these posts, as it would be far too difficult and unpleasant, so if you’re spoiler-squeamish, DO NOT CLICK.
♠ I’ve no idea how long/short these pieces will be. I’ll try to keep them fairly on-topic, but of course I will on occasion branch off into long, rambling meta on the history of House/Cuddy, their tumultuous and UST-ridden present, and my speculation for their future, near and far. So, length-wise, I’ll be playing it by ear, but aiming for anywhere between 750-1250 words each week.
♠ Predominantly, I shall be reviewing only the House/Cuddy scenes. This means, as a general rule, House and Cuddy, together: talking, fighting, gazing, snarking, sexing. However, I’m certain there may be times when I shall find it necessary to discuss a House-only scene, or a Cuddy-only scene, or a Cuddy & Lucas scene (oh, the dread), or a Wilson & House scene. Anything that I interpret as relevant to Huddy will be fair game.
♠ I shan’t be cursing. I try very hard not to swear IRL, (although I absolutely believe that it can sometimes be necessary in fic, if it helps to elucidate the character - yes, I am looking at you, House! No-one else ever swears in my fic!?!) So, there’s no reason why I should let this standard slip here.
♠ I’ll try not to bitch about Lucas too much. I don’t hate him, yet, but who knows? I might, in time. As of right now I feel rather sorry for him, to be honest. But he is the natural enemy to House/Cuddy, so I shall certainly be engaging in some (hopefully) good-natured ribbing of him. Be warned.
♠ That being said, I have no interest in bashing other characters; other than of course the obvious, general stuff, like; “Oh, Foreman, why are you acting like such a jerk?” or “Quit it with the emo, Chase! Just shut up and look delicious already!” I'm certainly not anticipating a great volume of such comments, but they might occasionally slip in, so once again, you are forewarned.
♠ Each week I will upload two songs which I feel reflect House and Cuddy’s thoughts, emotions and perspectives during the episode. Call it a mini-fanmix, if you will. I’ve no earthly idea how I’m going to limit myself to just two songs… I’ll have to discipline myself!
♠ I would like to make all of you aware, right from day one, that I am terribly, endlessly, helplessly fond of Dr James Wilson. So, there is most definitely going to lashings of decadently-heaped praise for the boy wonder oncologist in these reviews. It’ll all be related to House/Cuddy, I’m sure, but just take heed, guys. I have a great talent for finding the tiniest, flimsiest, most ridiculous of excuses to talk about Wilson, and you can bet that I’ll be exploiting that enviable skill here!
♠ Obviously, as all of this will be posted on LJ, I'm hoping that this little endeavour of mine will become something more than a mere personal project. The thing I love best about being a committed House/Cuddy shipper is the wonderful sense of community we have going on, and I'd like to consider this series my own little contribution, above and beyond my usual repetoire of fics and fanmixes. I look forward with rapturous anticipation to hearing your thoughts, ideas, musings, squeeings and scornful refutations of my opinion. That is kinda the point of this whole thing; to faciliate and promote thought, discussion, argument and impassioned conversations regarding our favourite dysfunctional diagnostician and his highly-strung but exceptionally gorgeous administrator boss. I'd really, really love to not always be the one doing all the talking, so please, I beg you, comment like crazy!!!
All of that now being said and done, it's onward and upward to my first review!!
