Have you ever looked back upon a story you wrote a very long time ago and hit your head on the desk with shame? I have. Just tonight, actually. I just read some of my first Harry Potter fanfiction that I wrote in 2003 and I couldn't help but groan in embarrassment. How could I have ever wrote such crap? All right, didn´t read it, not much into Harry Potter fanfictions, but I know what you mean. I know that feeling. I wrote a small fanfiction about Pirates of Caribbean, about Captain Jack Sparrow and Will Turner, slash of course, and as I re-read it some times later, I blushed and was ashamed. But then, I would write something similar again, but it would be more, how should I saw, not something people under the age of 18 would be allowed to read. LOL
Don´t be ashamed of anything you wrote. To the time you wrote this piece, it was what you felt, what you had in mind and that´s fine. Don´t be ashamed. :-)

I fail at not replying way sooner. How true what you say is. While it's something to hang you head in shame, it's also something that you can look at and be proud of. You know, by just looking at old stories you have written, that you have improved your writing. Since finding this story, I have learnt to keep all of my old fanfictions so I may look back at where I began.
