I'm not surprised Mr Grumble is paying a visit. That sounds hellish, being subjected to motivational songs and dances - I thought that sort of thing mostly happened in Japan - not here.

Being spoken to like that is horrible and unacceptable as well *hugs*.

Nearest thing I can think of to that is when I worked as a Christmas temp in Debenhams and had to listen to the same cheery christmassy tracks from October til January. At least though we weren't expected to dance or even like it - more to hypnotise the customers into submission I think.

the company likes it's buzz words and there's always something we're supposed to be memorising or following *sigh ( ... )

That sounds horrible. My store plays different groups of songs in seeming random order, where I might hear the same song three times in one shift. The group right now had Istanbul not Constantinople, Should I stay or should I go, Ballroom Blitz, and Killer Queen (these might not be the actually names), some weeks we have it much worse. But not I think as bad as you.

The floral department is getting a walk-through in September and we were told that if this one wall was done right we'd be successful, but since then they've changed what that wall was supposed to look like twice.

I think there are people making six figures by sitting behind desk coming up with new idea that contradict last week's new thing, to try to justify their salaries.

I'd love our store to press random occasionally, so sick of hearing the same songs. At least the Disney has now stopped for the night shifts! The repitition doesn't sound fun, it's rarely a song you like!

Yep, people who have never worked in a store!

We're told our staff surveys were positive this year yet everyone I've spoke to filled it out negatively.

Good luck, hope they decide what they want before the walk-through

*HUGS*

I know one person who got away from the patron/customer area at a mercantile. She came in at nights/early mornings to balance the receipts/moneys from the tills and make up the bank deposit.

Dancing. *cringes* You just need one employee getting hurt while doing something like that...

Just thought on a night shift (I do three a week) I finish work at 8am, this song plays at 7.45 every morning! LIKE HELL will I feel like dancing then. I'm hoping the 'great idea' fizzles out, but I've got no intention of joining in either way. I'll quite happily ask the area manager when we're going to start the mornings with 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' (kids rhyme they used to use in infants school to get a class in order)
