Comfortable shoes, brilliantly resoled

This is an unabashed service plug: I bought a pair of Vasque hiking boots round the millenium-turn, and wore the soles down to naught. I mean naught. The upper parts weren't in great shape either. In November, I bought a new pair at REI and sent the beat-up pair off to be resoled. REI has a relationship with a "boot guy" in Oregon whose shop is ( Read more... )

fyi, there is a guy in Davis Square who does shoe repair who's very good. He's in that little courtyard on elm street next to Starbucks, but I think the only sign is something like "Shoe Repair".

Yep, there's a great one in Waltham, too -- he does my Birks. The Oregon guy though, is great, as I said; supremely affordable, and licensed to do the work, which is somewhat particular, I expect.

Bet there are good cobblers in Germany. ;)
