I've been meaning to comment about Ma-tsu, and I'm so glad to hear the bumps are something treatable... though count me in on the HORROR of eeee-bugs-wtf?! I'll be very interested (in a horrified sort of way!) to hear what, exactly, these little beasties are. I know what excellent care you take of your babies, so for me this is an important reminder that nature has a way of circumventing even the most awesome husbandry!

btw, this is (obviously!) the icon I made of Ma-tsu's scales, for dragon_awakened... though I liked it so much I'm also using it here! Doesn't do the full picture justice, but still, beautiful Ma-tsu! =D

Beautiful icon! <3 She's such a gorgeous girl, I can't wait to have my sweetie at 100%, better than she's ever been as it turns out. Mr. Neptune as well.

The current theory is that my beauties were wild caught, or perhaps captive hatched instead of captive bred. They've probably always had these things! But it's so subtle and not in the gut so we haven't caught it til now. They also weren't moving at all when they took them out and told me that it's possible all the parasites are dead just... there. I have no idea. Hopefully we'll find out soon!

Eek. Parasites. *shudder* Poor thing. Glad she's going to be OK.

If you think it's dumb, why spend your time obsessively opposing the futility of others? It makes no sense.

It has come to be my belief that some people are just...assholes, said as that may be to say.

I've never minded people that express different beliefs or don't hold to the actions I'm taking if we share beliefs, but when they, like you describe, deliberately take actions--not because they believe in what they're doing--but just to make more futile the actions of others, I think they're an asshole.

I'm not sure there's anything for it...

Well, maybe a giant clue-by-four with a nail in the end, but I don't hold out much hope for that either.

Thank you, us too, like I said: horrified relief!

Lol, yeah, sadly this is true. This is why I believe that the way someone behaves on the internet says more about who they are then how they behave in person. Anonymity reveals truth, as demonstrated here.

Saving that image, it's too perfect.

Well written about the strike/boycott.

Parasites were my worst fear when I had my snakes. It's scary if you don't even know what they are and what to do with them :(

Thank you on both counts. Poor beauties, the tech said that they look kinda like dead tapeworms (apparently, they aren't just gut parasites!) and if that's a case a simple shot should do it. But we'll have to wait and see, because they're not sure. The current theory is that they were wild caught, it turns out, and have always had them. So after this, they should be better than they've ever been! Our vet is fantastic, I'm sure whatever it is will be taken care of very soon!

This sort of thing is why under normal circumstances I don't ever buy from anyone without a good reputation in the herp world. But I fell so hard for these two, and wanted to give them a better life. So I still stand by this exception.

I'never heard of them being anything else than gut parasites, wow. You learn new things every day :) They are simple to take care of, though, so hopefully they are just that.

Sometimes things just happen that way.. at least they have a good home now and if you can start breeding them it lessens again the risk of people having to buy without knowing the origins.

Glad to know she's gonna be ok, despite the fact that it's parasites of all things.

I totally understand what you're going through - we took Murphy in to have the vet look at one tooth that looked wonky and she ended up having to have 15 teeth pulled 'cause her gums were infected. I mean seriously, wtf? It's Wierd Pet Malady Week or something.

I was very WTF at parasites, poor baby! But yes, we're definitely taking care of it.

Poor Murphy! Daphne's had to have teeth pulled too, its the saddest thing. But 15? *huggles a Murphy*

Aww, Murphy appreciates the huggles. But she's doing much better - snarfing down her food, barking loudly when we eat, and deffending her terretory from Miso (who out-weighs her by about 4 pounds now...) And it's funny 'cause she yawned really wide tonight and I was able to see that she still has more teeth than I thought. I don't know how many teeth dogs start out with but I had this immage in my head of like no teeth left. But it almost looks like the vet pulled thhe 15 smallest teeth and she still has what looks like most of her teeth. o_O Like I said, she's eating, so all is well...

I'm glad it's not something more serious, but ew...parasites. That's always such a huge fear.

Bravo to everything you said about LJ. That's what I've been feeling, but hadn't been able to put so well.
The drama has been downright surprising. There's been some hostility on my flist about it all and I just don't get it.

Yeah, its pretty nasty... poor things. *shudder* Yeash with the bugs.

Hostility! That was the word I was trying to think of! Yes, the hostility has been utterly baffling. I don't get it either, not at all. :P
