[Mary happened to step outside to check the weather at about the same time, holding a cup of tea. She had already seen that it was bigger on the inside, but seeing it appear of of nowhere was something new. Her jaw dropped a bit, but she smiled, clearly impressed by the machine.]
There's a pot on the stove, I just made it! Want some breakfast too?

It's not important really. Just boring old stories. Let's focus on something much more interesting--like here and now. You probably fit into this city better than most out of the rest of us.
[She's smiling a little bit at the apparent praise despite herself.] There are plenty of little girls trying to sell fortunes on the street. It gets more profit than flowers, which means you need to sell less to afford a roof over your head and food on your plate.
