The University of Florida researcher who invented Gatorade in 1965 has died at the age of 80, according to this article in The Statesman. The article doesn't mention the first occasion when football players dumped a huge cooler of the stuff over their coach's head, but I'm sure someone out there remembers it ( Read more... )

I thought it was LT -- right team, wrong player. It was fun growing up a Giants fan in the 80s -- watching them go from crap to great.

There was a really funny sports column in the KC Star right before the big KU/MU football matchup which made fun of people from just about every part of Kansas, but I can't remember, oddly enough, what he said about Topekans. :D
