Hee hee, that museum is so hilarious. I stayed in the hotel right next door (like, the one that shares a wall that is actually a curtain) when I was here visiting colleges. Good times.
And oh, The Strand. ♥ Half the fun is getting lost in there for an hour and hunting out books, really. But then again, I'm weirdly fond of used books that way. >____>
If you have time, I also recommend the Cloisters; it's a really cool museum of medieval art. Take the A train up to 190th--far, but worth it. ;) It hardly seems like you're in NYC anymore, it's very weird and cool.
Believe me, I would have bought every book in that damn store if I had the room in my frickin' luggage. Hmm...I am flying Southwest and there isn't a baggage fee... Hmm...
