I feel your pain. I've been having similar problems with my laptop, except I know it's not the battery because I replaced the battery a few months ago. My mouse also stopped working but I got a new (used, but in perfect condition) one yesterday.

At least you can be online inside when you're at home, even if it is extremely annoying to find a signal. My computer can't find one inside the house, only outside in the back yard.
