Once inside, Sylar mopped his own face of dried blood and set about making tea. He'd never stayed in this lavish winter home, but he was familiar enough with Angela's kitchen by now. He found everything easily enough, and soon had the kettle singing and four mugs set waiting.
"Did you have to bring him?" Claire murmured privately to Peter, while the Intuitive's back was turned. She was sure he could still hear her, would probably hear her if she'd been in the basement and him in the attic, but she didn't care. After what he'd done to Jackie and all the time he'd spent stalking her, being courteous with him wasn't a major priority.
He shot Mohinder a glare over the snide side remark, but shrugged it off. "So do I," he held one hand aloft and it suddenly glowed with a molten internal light. Above his palm a globe of energy formed that shone with the radiance of a miniature sun, and threw off an uncomfortable heat with it.
Then he closed his fingers, extinguishing the volatile energy, his skin losing its translucence and returning to mere flesh. "But, maybe, rather than bringing you to the Company, we can bring the resources of the Company to you. If they don't have resources here in Colorado, it's only a puddle jump down to Odessa. The house is large enough. We could set up a proper laboratory, and any more complicated testing could be carried out down there."
Mohinder winced and closed his eyes when Sylar lit his hand up. The sun didn't burn him any more than it did an average human but he spent so much time in the dark these days, hiding, that the light was too much for him.
He blinked a few times once Sylar extinguished it. "I would like to stay here."
"But you realize if they catch wind that you're here, they'll send someone like Bennet to bring you in or something, right?"
"So, we don't let them catch wind that I'm here." Simple.
"So far, we're the only one's who've been following the leads you've left. If we get Claire back to school, she can derail anyone else who picks up the trail. Send them on a wild goose chase off to India or something. Bennet himself is less likely to come sniffing in that event, too," and Sylar could stop worrying about that little minx squirming underneath his favorite geneticist again.
Mohinder shook his head, then rubbed at his temples. It was very rare for him to get a headache but right now his brain was starting to throb. "Fine." If it would get them off of his case.
"Good," said Peter. "I can take Claire to school tomorrow easily enough, and be back here by tomorrow night. Okay?'
The doctor nodded, wondering how he was going to stay away from Sylar all day. It wouldn't happen, though, so he needed to steel himself for the bitchfest and violence that was surely on their horizon. "I'm retiring for the evening, then." He began to pack up his things, not about to leave all of his papers here fro Sylar to look through.
"Which room can I take?" Peter asked.
"...There are several upstairs. Take your pick." He watched the young empath walk over to Sylar and say goodnight with some implication that his killer-brother should be good, and then Peter headed up.
Sylar gave Peter a placating smile, eyes following him briefly, until he was out of sight, then turned back to Mohinder. He watched the doctor rearranging his papers, contemplative for a moment before he spoke.
"You know, there were a lot of people who thought that you were dead," he lifted an eyebrow, stepping forward slightly.
Mohinder closed his briefcase and and held it by the handle in one hand, the other pushing through his violence-mussed curls as he stood.
"Oh? I'm sure you threw a sodded party." He glanced at Sylar, his eyes glinting that shade of blue for a moment. "Called my mother to gloat and all of that."
Anjali. Gods he missed her. If she knew what he'd become...
"Well... when the opinion first formed, I wasn't told. I spent quite a while in recovery for the blade Nakamura stuck through me. Longer after that being held in a basement with no word of the outside world, until things went mad, anyway. Then they finally had a use for my particular talents.
"But I didn't believe it. I hadn't expected... well, this," he gestured toward the geneticist. "But fate and I haven't worked that way. I wasn't going to buy it until they found either you or your body."
"So you're disappointed. Is that it? Disappointed that I'm still alive?" If this could be called living. "Or, disappointed that you haven't won? You can still kill me, you know. And then do what you like with my body. Ship it back to The Company and let them run tests. I don't give a damn."
Sylar, meet doom-and-gloom Dr. Suresh with nothing to lose but his sanity.
His hand shot out in an instant, telekinetic grip wrapping around Mohinder's throat, pulling him forward and into it, physically. As soon as the doctor was in hand, Sylar slammed him back against the wall, holding him bodily off the ground, feet dangling. "You want to die, Doctor Suresh? Would that make it easier? Think that'll clear your conscience for you, hm?"
A whimper escaped him when he hit the wall, and Mohinder's toes scraped the floor, barely touching. He realized quickly that wasn't going to do any good and instead he shot a hand out against Sylar's telekinesis, clawing rabidly at the man's throat!
