Simone was dead. Here one moment, gone the next. Nathan was busy with God knows what; probably trying to save his career, and Angela...all she kept telling Peter was that he needed to be a good boy and try to work with Noah, but Bennet had been preoccupied with keeping Claire safe from that Sylar guy.

He was going to explode. He'd heard it over and ( Read more... )

That meant yes, Nathan was leaving, as usual. "No." Peter sighed against his brother. "Love you, Nate."

Peter scrambled backwards on the floor, looking at his hands with a gaped mouth. The white color was spreading up his arms... "No no no no! No! I can't stop it!"

"Rene!" Peter barked, skidding outside of Angela's office. "Code red! Peter's gonna blow!"

Claude stepped back at Peter's words, feeling the heat, wondering idly if he'd get radiation poisoning rather than just burn up. "Then fly! Fly out of here!" He shouted at Peter.

The Haitian sprang up and strode to Bennet. "If the chain reaction has begun, I cannot help him, Noah," he said. "I tried to stop Sprague in your home and could not. You need to sedate him."

Bennet didn't even wait for Rene to finish his sentence, because he knew what came next. He darted for a supply closet and dug through until he found some syringes and some sedative for such emergencies. Noah then ran back down the hallway at full speed - quite an impressive sight for someone with such long legs - and uncapped the needle with his teeth. At that point, Peter was trying to crawl to the door, any door, to get out and fly away, melting the floor tiles in the process.

Noah came up behind him and stabbed Peter in the neck with the syringe, injecting him. He ignored the pained yelped that came from the empath's mouth, pushing the stopper down all the way and flooding his veins with enough morphine to take down an elephant. Peter collapsed within a few moments, his hands fading back to normal, and Noah stepped back as he wiped some sweat from his brow. "Nothing like a Friday morning at the Company."

Claude hadn't been able to move. He was stunned when he saw Noah run by him and sedate Peter. Why hadn't he thought of that? He was out of the bloody loop. "So what d'you think... immediate radiation poisoning or just leukaemia in a few years?" he asked Noah humorlessly.

Nathan didn't find that particularly funny. He kept on backing away, heart racing, feeling dizzy with shock. He'd seen some action during his time in the Navy, but this... this was something else.

Noah leaned against the wall, hands on his thighs as he bent forward. "Nothing a good dose of Adam's blood won't fix. We have plenty thanks to Nathan." He looked down at Peter and then walked to pick the kid up, hefting him over his shoulder.

Angela watched in horror from down the hallway, her hand on her chest. "Rene...you stay with him at all times, do you understand me?"

"Huh, well we can thank Nathan for that, I s'pose," said Claude, still trying to regain all the brain cells that had switched off with the panic.

"Great," snapped Nathan, still feeling more than frazzled. Now he knew what a blowing-up Peter looked like, and most of him wanted to run far, far away.

René nodded respectfully at Angela. "Yes madame," he said softly, and went to stand close to Peter. That ability frightened even him.

"Angela did you get their flight to Odessa set up yet?" Noah asked, stopping in front of her.

"Yes, it leaves in two hours." She still had her hand on her chest, frightened.

"Good. We'll keep him sedated for the wait, and for the plane ride." Noah glanced at Rene and then walked to a cell to put Peter down.

Nathan finally took in the state of his mother and hurried to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "It'll be all right, Ma."

René nodded at Noah and followed him to the cell, settling down on the edge of Peter's bed. He might as well make himself comfortable, as he would be there for a long time.

Claude followed too, sorry for the kid. They shouldn't have called Nathan. Now that he had all the pieces of the puzzle, it seemed obvious that seeing Nathan was causing Peter to heat up with all these repressed feelings he had for his brother.

He got Peter onto a bed, then hooked up to a morphine drip and pulled the sheets up over him so he wouldn't be cold. "What a waste," Noah murmured, meaning Peter was a waste of good abilities. He could be working for the Company but instead he's a brat who can't control himself.

Angela turned and hugged Nathan, stroking his face as she did before pulling away. "Go back to work, dear. You can't help him."

"You know how it is with empaths," said Claude. "If they're emotionally unstable, even a bit, they have trouble with control. And who could be mentally stable growing up with Arthur and Angela Petrelli?"

Nathan nodded softly. "I guess... do you think he'll ever manage to control it?"

"Good point," said Noah, nodding. He walked with Claude out of the room and closed the door behind them, locking it.

Angela pursed her lips and then shook her head. "I don't know, but I hope so. I really hope so, Nathan."

Claude let out a long sigh, rubbing his face. "Ah Peter. He's such a lot of hard work." His beard was charred, too, he could smell it. Lovely.

"So do I, Ma," said Nathan softly. He kissed her cheek. "All right. I've got to go." Something, some niggling feeling at the back of his mind, was telling him that it was his fault that Peter had blown up, but he tried to push it aside.

"Come on lets get you a dose of blood," Noah said, patting Claude on the back. He wasn't so much worried about himself.

Angela squeezed Nathan's arm and nodded. "Call me tonight and I'll let you know how his flight went."

"Huh, think it'll get rid of the wrinkles and grey hair, too?" said Claude with a rueful smile. He followed Bennet to the infirmary, trying to take in where everything was.

"All right," said Nathan, squeezing his mother's shoulder. "Talk to you later, Ma." With that, he left as fast as he could, hoping that work would distract him.

"Nah, but why would you want to get rid of that? Makes you look sophisticated." Noah chuckled and took out his keys to unlock the room where they we ere stashing healing blood.
