Aww, I actually like it that Joe seems to be making friends and is a social beast. It makes him seem a little more NORMAL. Plus, I like to imagine that while he's out cavorting with Veronicas and Henries and the like he's picking up some new TRICKS to show Nick when he gets back to LA.
