An icy glare to Luzah as he folded his hand on the desk. Turning slightly, he regarded Vashti calmly. His voice was level.

"The question is do we know if Samem Ren's half is self-sufficient. In other words, do we have to worry about whatever he was planning to do or not?"

"Luzah claims she did not know, exactly. He was awaiting a delivery of something, she says, but it was due to arrive before Lady Shelley even found you."

An enquiring glance flickers to Luzah, who shivers, but shakes her head helplessly.

A frown from Ishamael as he pounded his fist on the desk. Fury boiled in his voice as he glared forward.

"That is not good enough! For all we know Graendal had Samem Ren unleash a nest of Cafar in our basement, or set Draghkar to sing us to an everlasting sleep! But then, it could be nothing. We could have stopped it with Samem Ren!"

"I have had the arrival records checked. Nothing untoward was noted - only routine deliveries, and there were no peculiarities."
