That's pretty much how I feel, to be honest, but not because I've created this world but because I'm very strict about canon and if JKR says it, it's law. So, if something happens, how can I write AU? I'm very frightened, which is rather silly since it's just a book but it's more than a book, and that's what fandom does.

That being said, I'm writing the first and only post-DH fic I've ever written, on the cusp of things changing. So incredibly weird...

I've been getting the urge to write post-HBP fics myself. Maybe the looming change and all the emotion that entails is sparking off creativity.

I'm quite strict with canon too. I've only ever managed to write one AU fic and that a challenge fic, but everything else I've writen has always been canon compatible. That's actually part of the fun for me, trying to work my imagination around strict rules.

Though lately I've become a little bit more flexible because of other fandoms, mainly PotC, because if I don't go against canon, where else am I supposed to go with Norrington? And Doctor Who because DW canon is such a mess anyway.

But if something happens like Remus announcing that all this time he hasn't been in love with Tonks or something like that, I can't get over that, and the thought of something like that happening, is frightening.

Maybe. I wouldn't be surprised.

I've decided, if all else fails, I'll write AU. We write in a fandom where m/m and mpreg are popular options and it's almost ridiculous to be so canon-complient when it's thrown to the wind. So, that being said, I'm still writing my AU.

You guys get the book in a number of hours, right? I'm waiting with bated breath for someone to confirm the validity of the leaked book!

Unfortunately we get it at the same time as everyone else, midnight GMT, which works out here to be 11am tomorrow (or, for me, whenever I get home from work).

Love the icon BTW.

Dude, your version sounds awesome!

But I get where you are coming from. It is the end of an era, so to speak, and I think a lot of people in the fandom will be feeling this way.

Thanks :)

It is an end of an era. Half the internet seems to be Harry Potter speculation. What will we all do with ourselves?
