I’m normally one for admiring heroes with faults and all and let a lot of things slide, but I can’t get over a person sleeping with an 11 year old.
Combined with another thing I read which said that he didn’t sacrifice his life to save the others, more to escape the pain of his gangrenous leg, I’m kind of wishing I hadn’t gotten out of bed this morning. I did honestly think the guy was made of awesome.
Yeah, that is questionable...maybe she looked sixteen? Sorry it ruined your day, though.
I have very low expectations for my heroes, which is why I always say "OMG YOU ARE MY HERO" to my friends when they do something awesome. I try to keep it real.
To be fair, the evidence itself was a bit iffy without something like a birth certificate or a DNA profile, and could just be a bit of Kitty Kelley-style sensationalism to sell what would otherwise quite possibly be a fairly routine book. Not that I'd be entirely surprised if it was true, being somewhat cynical myself, but there you go.
It is a bit iffy. Can’t be that much motivation for sensationalism though, he’s not that famous, I always get blank stares from friends when I quote Oates at them when I have to go outside in the snow.
Like you I tend to side with the cynics, so I'll believe it. At least he'll still have best last words ever. Unless that is Arnold Rimmer’s theory about Scott eating Oates turns out to be right.
I interrupt your cynicism with words of praiselastwordy_mcgeeJanuary 19 2007, 01:29:17 UTC
I finally got a chance to read some of your fics, and I adored the ones I read (all the PotC and the first three HP ones). I look forward to reading more!
