I was debating watching the second generation, and then I found out about the dramatic ending, and it's just SO STUPID and SOAPY and unworthy of what I see Skins as that...no. (Although, Hugo Speer...I have Full Monty-based fondness.) Shame, Effy deserves better -- she's set up all fascinatingly in her brother's generation and then once hers comes along it seems like it got ridiculous. :/ And it's weird to think of the third generation being completely new, not linked through the way Effy and Pandora did the first to the second. I don't know that I will watch it, I mean maybe, but that first set were gems.

The ending does sound absolutely dreadful, although I was more offended by the fact not one but two characters end up going to Harvard. That's pretty ridiculous in American dramas, never mind drama's set in Bristol - that's what signals the show selling out to me.
I'm kind of hoping the show will get back on track with the third generation, but still, the first will forever be the best IMHO.
