Who Stuff

With all the names being chucked out for Eleven, I'm surprised I haven't seen Stephen Mangan put out there. He's got fantastic comic timing (and is particularly brilliant at improv apparently), a good enough actor to have me rooting for Guy to get the girl in Green Wing despite Guy being a complete wanker, and he's a bit funny looking but still ( Read more... )

I'm totally behind you on Stephen Mangan. That would be great news! There are quite a few names being chucked around at the moment (bookies have David Morrissey with leading odds here at the moment), but it is so hard to think in terms of an Eleven quite yet, even though I am excited about the prospect, and yet worried at the same time. I remember when Russell Tovey's name got chucked around, and I was a bit worried. I love Russell Tovey to pieces and think he is such a great actor, but I just am not sure with him as a Doctor...

So Stephen Mangan would whole heartedly get my support. I adored Guy from Green Wing. I totally shipped him and Caroline to the point where I pretend that the special doesn't exist in canon.

I like the idea of Russell Tovey, actually. I think it would be great having a Doctor that struggles to be recognized and listened to because people discount his intelligence because of his youth. Although, that could wear thin after a series.

And I really wish the special hadn't rained on Guy/Caroline. They were my Green Wing ship as well.

I'm not against Russell Tovey, but his youth was probably my main concern. Not to say there can't be a young Doctor, but it it a slightly untried formula, which as you say, could wear a bit thin. That said, I would still be okay if they cast him, but there are probably a few people I'd like to see before him (including Morrissey, and Mangan).

Should I admit that I still kind of ship Guy/Joanna?

SJA already got it's third season, I believe (news a long time ago about s2 and being filmed back to back), and, though it's speculation based on a highly familiar back-of-the-head and RTD's denial (we all know what those tend to mean), it looks like Ten is in one of the stories. I so badly want Ten&Luke interaction. And the adults being all frosty at him based on misunderstandings would be AMAZING.

I gotta say, my top choice would be Luke as a companion because I love him so very deeply and he's so weird and there's that connection, but Clyde would also rock. It'd be a very energetic dynamic, that. XD

Actually they didn't film S2 and S3 back to back - it's still not certain there'll be a S3 of SJA as yet.

And no, Ten's NOT in SJA S2 - unless Lis is lying, because she said so in a recent interview.

I definitely want Clyde on the TARDIS once he's 18.

Actually, if David Tennant leaves at the end of the specials, that still means that he could have a guest appearance in Season 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, which would air, like this season, in the fall of that year.

And yes, I so want to see all the social awkwardness and energy that you describe. I still wish that Alan Jackson had been able to meet Ten, so that the two of them could have a subtle but obvious RAWR SARAH JANE IS MY WOMAN NOT YOURS thing going on with each other, to which Sarah Jane would respond with OMG U SEXIST BOIS I AM MY OWN WOMAN, and the boys would scuff their shoes and be all CAN WE STILL BE YOUR BOYFRIENDS THOUGH?

Alan and the Doctor having some kind of size up over Sarah would have been so much win. Although, I would think Alan would be sizing up and the Doctor failing to notice poor Alan's existence.

With Luke in Sarah Jane's life, Ten might think Alan was Luke's dad, and that Sarah Jane had acquired her new family by hooking up with Alan.

Of course, Ten would assume that Sarah Jane can already see that Alan is attracted to her (which he TOTALLY is, in CANON), and he would inadvertently reveal Alan's attraction to Sarah Jane as a result, and Alan and Sarah Jane would both get all blushy and flustered.
