The best thing about The Doctor’s Daughter had to be the Ten/Donna/Jenny dynamic. I very much want to see AU fics in which Jenny actually goes with the Doctor and Donna and the three of them form some kind of odd family unit - the father, the daughter and the mother/aunt figure - and go and save planets and civilizations throughout the universe and

You're not! While I was watching I also saw Ten, Donna, and Jenny starting to function like a (slightly odd) family unit. It's a pity she couldn't have stayed around longer.

I haven't seen an One serials beyond "An Unearthly Child", which was kind of underwhelming, but your description of the relationships during that era makes me interested in seeing more.

The three episodes of An Unearthly Child involving the cavemen are very dreary, although I love the first episode. If you want some One era recommendations, I've done picspam reviews of The Beginning Box set and The Dalek Invasion of Earth, the latter in particularly I recommend, though if you want team bonding you have to go The Edge of Destruction - the plot is lacking, but the character interaction is wonderful.

Vicki gets kind of adopted by everyone -- she is far younger than them -- but she's, I think, very mature in her own right.

Yay, oddball family units! They are glorious. And probably a big part of my Three-era affinity.

Ten and Jenny would be...yeah, a lot of energy. There's also the possibility of him being calmed down by the responsibility (The Doctor may be the only father who's ever had to say to his child "be careful, there might be traps!"), but there's also the worry of hyperactivity. Though they do challenge each other some, so their behavior wouldn't go wholly unchecked.

Oh, I love the UNIT family. I'm hoping we get a new one with Martha and Colonel Mace and the Captain that kissed him whose name I can't recall.

True, Jenny could calm him down a bit and she did challenge him, and I think RTD has actually proven that the Doctor can have character development so it could happen. I'm not completely against the idea, I would have to see them in action together without Donna before I could really get behind the idea like I see many in fandom doing.
