It's becoming harder to keep up with things...I feel tired much more often. Even after everything, it seems...that I had come to take magic for granted.

At times I feel myself new again, as a child. There is still so much to learn.

It's just now autumn, so it'll become quite a bit colder as winter sets in.

Winter Veil?

Ah, I suppose it would be foolish to expect an easy winter from this place.

It began as a dwarven holiday, celebrating a being known as Greatfather Winter. Many people celebrate it now; there's feasting and presents...and plenty of drinking....

We don't have much trouble keeping warm, with all the talents the inhabitants here possess.

There's a holiday near the end of the year in my world called Christmas. Perhaps they're similar.

I myself would be warmer with my talents...

[brief grumble session. ahem.]

Christmas? What do you do on this Christmas?

A holiday on my world. It was said that Greatfather Winter would walk the land, bringing winter itself as his cloak. He blessed those who welcomed him, so many people today celebrate late in the season.

Oh, really? We celebrate something like that--at least most people! There are all sorts of holidays during the winter!

Indeed there are. Are you thinking of this "Christmas" I've heard of?

It's October, right? It seems like it's following the usual four-season year I'm used to though I could be wrong.

What's Winter Veil? A holiday in your world?

I believe it is. I have been many places where there are not four seasons, though.

It is. A celebration of winter.

Ah...little one. Are you feeling better?

I'm glad. I suppose snow can be fun as long as you're prepared for it.

I'm glad. We didn't introduce ourselves, did we? I am Meryl.

[chuckle.]

When I was younger, people would flavor cups of snow and have them for dessert.
