My apologies for those who were friends of Terence. It seem he has been taken back to his forest. My house feels much emptier nowadays.
I have news from my trip to Dissimulo, and things to show you, Discedo...
[The following is interspersed with snippets of video, like a homemade movie, with Meryl's commentary over it.]
The town itself is quite small, and it looks something like our own city...
[Some first-person-viewpoint shots of walking across Dissimulo's main road. There is a large crack through the middle of the street. The buildings are dirty with ash and look abandoned, some more than others.]
Still, it could house a few of us, if we so choose. With a little work.
[Wandering through a house. It's looted, empty, etc. A few things left on the floor, some of which video-Meryl stops to pick up. Another view, now from the top of a two-story building. The town is quaint.]
Mostly, there is farmland....[And the view pans over to - look! farmland!] Nothing grows there now, but I brought some of the soil back to examine. There is certainly much room there, if it is arable.
The Observatory is the other way; it was empty and nonfunctional, unfortunately. There is also a subway station, as we know...however,
[Descending the stairs into a dark underground station. It's dirty and full of rubble and pretty much craptastic. Just like home!]
Even if we manage to repair our own station, this one will need the same attention. There are a few monsters nesting there as well, and unfortunately [The view shifts to walking down one of the lines, and video-Meryl stops in front of a small collection of rubble. No, not rubble - a small collection of corpses. They are unusually colored for corpses, and "they look like they've been cut into, sewn up, messed about. Some of them are quite monstrous..."]
I have not seen such things in Discedo....although I confess to not spending much time in the subways. [A moment of darkness as Meryl finds the next video clip. It's a sign: "Bonita Line", and an impressive pile of (actual) rubble in front of it. It would indeed take a lot of attention to get this place cleared out.]
[Another pause before Meryl continues.]
Not far from Dissimulo is what I must assume was the internment camp mentioned before. It is not a sight for the weak of heart.
[Video-Meryl is walking down a hallway. It's a prison - a section of a prison, labeled Sector Green. On the wall, written in blood;
"They say you do not need your name anymore
Your name is Green and that is all you need
to identify you
What is my name?"
"WHO CAN FIND THE CURE FIRST?
We're just guinea pigs to Discedo's and Accido's personal rivalry."
Skeletons and small bits of debris in the cells. Everything is old and dead and abandoned. The video is shut off.
For a few moments Meryl again says nothing.]
I suppose I don't have much to add to that.
It is my hope that this information helps us to discover both the past we are dealing with and the future we are to create.
[That's all, folks!]
