If the university that you're transferring to has Pre-Medical programs, you should consider applying for it. I know UTMB has a pre-medical program called Early Medical School Acceptance program.

I think it's definitely alright to have one degree in Psychology and another in Biology, but be sure to get your pre-reqs that are required by medical schools. It's also never too early to shadow doctors.

Before doing that, though. Have you taken the MCAT? (I'm unsure because you haven't mentioned it) You should do that first before applying to medical school.

I haven't taken the MCAT yet. Should I go ahead and take it? It'll still be another 2 years before I apply to medical school.

Not unless you've taken physics, cell & molecular bio, gen and organic chemistry and genetics. Otherwise wait until you're a junior or senior.

Like what Teri said, you should wait until you've taken Physics and the other courses. Most people take the MCAT at least one year before applying to medical school. You have time to catch up.

There are plenty of good medical schools in Texas (but I might be biased :P), and yes, in-state tuition is cheaper. If you are able to buy property and you are interested in an out of state school, you could always end up buying property in that state, and I think that works for qualifying for in-state tuition for most schools ( ... )

I love reading about and studying diseases, especially things like Ebola, Marburg, and things like that. I'd love to do something like that, like for the CDC or WHO (and live in Switzerland, ugh it's my dream)

Oh yeah, have you thought about infectious diseases? Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, UTMB has a great tropical medicine division, and its director of ID is the neurocysticercosis guy or something to that extent. [/random facts]
