My AMCAS application is all ready to go. I'm going to submit it on July 20th (it is a significant date to me and I figured one more business day wont hurt too bad). I'm applying to ten schools, most with a history of LOVING my school's written evaluations ( Read more... )

1. I do not see why it would hurt to include a shadow date scheduled for the future in your application. It you do not have previous shadow/clinical experience and want to show that you are pursuing that, it certainly makes sense.

2. I kept the fact that I was applying to medical school a secret from most of the family except for my spouse and parents. My in-laws did not know and they live 2 doors down. I was avoiding having to break the news to everyone if I was not accepted:)

3. I think that your personal statement will be great and help your application the most if it is real and personal. Especially if you had some people proof it for major writing flaws.

totally normal to not tell everyone where you're applying. most people i know gave broad geographic regions when they're talking about where they apply, like "schools in new york" -- often because they are literally applying to every single school in new york. a lot of people also just say "all over".
