Our primitive mind knows something bad is happening, but you can’t see it. This breaks our sense of safety. We’re feeling that loss of safety.

Yes, I think the author put it very well. And I was interested to read about "meaning" as the 6th stage of grief as well, having studied Kubler-Ross's theory.
