Well, maybe we could say we need to clean that miruvor off the front of the costume, spilled all down his front the night before the tale fire. Frodo is always so obliging, I am sure he would strip down then and there. (Bilbo and Gimli were keeping everyone in stitches taking turns telling Dwarvish and hobbit variants of The Peddler and the Farmer's Daughter.)
I like your nekkid Frodo art travesties, but this is also mondo fabulous! He does look so full of himself! You picked the RIGHT "face" for this. :) And those lovely fingers... *pervs* Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
You know, I don't think the Tudor outfit makes him look unhobbity. He looks like the Master of Bag End after the departure of Bilbo, comfortable enough to indulgence his own whims and confident enough to be outrageous on occasions.
And yes, I think I AM IN LOVE too. *swoons for your beautiful manip*
Mechtild, I do believe this is the most beautiful manip of our beautiful hobbit I've ever seen.
I am more thrilled than you can know to see your post.
While you are twiddling your fingers at the keyboard, I have made lots of pretty sets of Frodo screencaps and some new manips, (including some re-dos of old ones). I made tables of contents for them, too, linked in the left column of the LJ page.
Goodness, you ARE getting better! What's the new program? I've used CorelDraw and been very pleased, but if there is better out there, please do share!
The manip is flawless but I'm not sure about the original composition. Those hands are more feminine than mine! LOL!
I am guessing that Bronzino had a thing for hands that his society shared. Everyone wanted long slender elegant fingers. All his painting's subjects have them, male and female, whether the paintings are of real people or fictional or religious characters.
I jockey between two programs making the manips now, Ariel. The new program is Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Editor. But for everything I post (screencap or manip), I also use ACD Photo Editor 3.1, which has some features that I can't find on the newer program. If they are there I don't know how to access them. So I save and open the images back and forth between them.
Oh Mech, How wonderful...you are truly getting VERY good at this indeed !!!
The whole Tudor style of dress, in black, really suits him extremely well, and he does look quite the aristocratic Hobbit here...
As a complete by the way, I was also transfixed by the small detail down in the bottom left-hand corner of this painting...did anyone else notice the fantastic little face in the wood carving of the table ?!!
Sharp eye, Wendy! Well, maybe it's a charicature of Bronzino? In Michelangelo's altar piece in the Sistine Chapel, one of the devils is holding up the peeled-off face skin of a man (Hannibal Lecter as the devil?); they say it's a self-portrait of Michelangelo. I believe other artists have snuck little self-portraits into their pictures, too. PJ and Alfred Hitchcock weren't the only artist who liked to do cameos, apparently.
Blimey, Mech...I pity him if it is !!! What a gargoyle-like face...Anyway, you have intrigued me enough to go and check - I will let you know if I find out anything of interest, like that..
As for your version of Frodo, I really do think that the whole Tudor dress really suits him very well...must be something to do with all that slashing...

Let me know if you find out anything about Bronzino's gargoyle. You are a great one for research. :)
