movie time with mom

Aug 08, 2010 21:29

Just finished watching UP. She liked it "a lot". I knew she would, even though she's not big into animation. "It's not really a kids' movie" she said. "I know," I said. I cried on and off the whole way through, as I have every time I've watched it. The movie is like a punch in the nose as far as tear production goes. At least for me.

really big shew, mom

That movie is too sad for words. I sobbed the entire way through. And then I was so mad that anyone would take a child to see it.

I don't know; I think as a kid I wouldn't have gotten a lot of it, but I would also have been asking questions afterwards. One of my favorite phrases was, "Tell me anyway" (coming after, "You wouldn't understand."). Then again I had a very abnormal exposure to media as a kid, so I probably shouldn't speak.

I feel like on the one hand, sheltering children stunts them, but on the other hand, I was the exact opposite of sheltered, and that shove off the bridge of exposure certainly wasn't much a favor for me.
I am sure there are things that most kids would not react to or pick up on.
I saw it alone in the theater and could barely move afterward.
I had abnormal exposure too (e.g. midnight showing of Scarface for the midnight showing on a school night), and so I probably shouldn't speak either.

YOU ARE KIDDING ME. Okay, next time we are together, it is going to be an animation festival. There's so much out there I want to make you watch!

I know, I am apparently a freak!
And I just realized we didn't watch that animated movie you brought with you. I totally forgot about it. Sorry! Animation is just not something I usually think of. I am so prejudiced ;)

It's okay. I thought of it, but since we got into Buffy, I didn't want to interrupt the flow. We'll just watch it next time. I'm starting a list. ;)

I cried in the beginning, when I went to see it, we had just gotten married and all I could think of was losing my husband.

I also cried during Finding Nemo because I kept thinking about what it would be like if my future children were kidnapped.

Stupid Disney/Pixar, they aren't supposed to make movies that make you think!
