I'm typing this in my underwear and, for the record, I look pretty darn cute. And no, no one else will see me in them today.

I've been thinking a lot about the Alice-Eve-in-her-bra-and-underwear criticisms of Star Trek Into Darkness. I don't think I'll have any spoilers. The scene with her in them was in some of the trailers. (pic hereI'm not ( Read more... )

Huh, that's... actually less sexist and gratuitous than some of the scenes in TOS, IMO. I can see what they intended to do, there. I'd have to go see the movie to decide for myself whether it worked or not.

And I agree, how is that set too fancy to wear to work? One, it's not particularly fancy, unless all these people can tell it's a really expensive brand, and two, if you want to wear fancy underwear to work, hell yeah!

Personally, I feel extra good about my outfit if I know I'm wearing a pretty bra underneath. And anyone who feels good about themselves, incidentally, performs better. So I'm all for wearing a great lingerie set to work.

I don't see anything particularly "fancy" about her lingerie in that pic, and even if it were "fancy" (bows, lace, doves flying from her nipples) why would it be unrealistic to consider that a woman would want to wear something that she likes that makes her feel good about herself? Isn't it more sexist to think that nice lingerie only exists for a man to look at?

I read somewhere some time ago that the reason why fancy lingerie sells well isn't because of women wanting to impress someone special, but because it makes them feel a little bit prettier, polished, fun, etc. Even if you work at a conservative office, you can still add a little playfulness with your lingerie precisely because no one can see it. I know when I have a special occassion I'll spend some time picking out my underwear simply because it makes my outfit feel more complete.

I am a Victoria's Secret aficionado. I like wearing undergarments that are pretty and comfortable. I've been known to match my undergarments. All of these things have absolutely nothing to do with other peeps seeing them, it's all about me and what I want.

So, would I be wearing that set under my "work gear"? You're damn straight I would be.
