That's so vivid! I almost suggested you switch it to chamomile tea to be distinct, but I decided that Sylar might not know and anyway, she might like a variety of them, and also it left it up to to the reader's imagination and most readers probably don't know what chamomile smells like.
It's a good little story. We nearly all ended up writing "Spirit" as someone being haunted. I had wondered when I was thinking of what to write for it if people would tend to take it as a haunting, or as someone being full of spirit, feisty, and determined. Interesting to see how we all took it the same way!

Chamomile occured to me. I tried to think of tea flavors/smells for all of 30 seconds and gave it up as useless. One, I couldn't think of any teas! Two, I didn't want to pin it down to just one, and Three, I didn't know which one Virginia would be because, well, I don't know any teas!
See, no. I'm really torqued off because I've been trying to write my anti-muses: Peter and Nathan. I had good ideas for them that were not haunting 'spirit' based, the feisty, determined, passionate meaning of the word. And I forgot them and had, like, all of three days to churn something out. And now the next challenge is favorite pairing, so it's back to my comfort zone...what a partial-bummer ;)

Anyway, chamomile is yellow, like the flowers it's derived from. It has mild sedative qualities. I tried feeding it to my hyperactive, ADHD son back when we were exploring options other than medication. Put enough sugar in it and he loved it! But of course that was self-defeating. I used to drink it when I had more trouble sleeping at night than I do now. It's calming and one of the few herbal teas I've tried that actually has the effect it's touted to have. I can easily see Virginia, as a nervous, easily unsettled woman, drinking a lot of it!
You write emotional intensity really well. I see where you took the adds I suggested and swapped out words for ones that were more vivid and packed more punch! That's great!
