[ Oh isn't this interesting.

Eko's been watching the newcomer for a little while now, mostly for lack of anything better to do. There's something different about this stranger's smell, the familiar reek of old blood that denoted violence and murder (typical in this city, he's come to realize), but there's something on top of that. Something not quite human.

Also, the boy can't seem to enter thresholds, as if held back by an invisible force.

His eyes narrow.

He strolls soundlessly out of the shadows of an alley behind Damon, making no effort to announce his presence. Just watching. ]

[ Hot damn. He's not alone after all.

Damon doesn't need to hear him to realize he's there, to sense his presence, and he cocks his head to the side just barely, not quite enough to make out the stranger standing behind him. The air smells -- different, harder. Damon can't quite make it out; he just knows it's unusual, that it stands out from everything else around him.

He could hear that heart, though, clear as day, beating beneath the cage of this person's chest, pumping blood through their veins. ]

It's rude to sneak up on people.

He smiles slowly. ]

My deepest apologies.

I had not yet decided if I wished to intrude upon thee.

You're not intruding on anything, buddy.

[ He looks back to the window, focusing on the broken glass spread all across the pavement. ]

In fact, I was getting a little lonely.
