[ Church spent the majority of the time bitching. Of course. It was to be expected, after all, and he wasn't the sort to let people down when it came to that kind of thing. So. He bitched. He bitched about a lot, kept a stiff distance between the both of them, and contemplated just sliding the fuck away the second Wash wasn't looking.
He thought better of it, but he does break away from Wash the second they reach the surrounding area of Valhalla. He wanders back maybe ten minutes later with a sniper rifle, running his fingers over the polished metal and the shining scope as if he'd never seen anything like it. ]
Well, this still fucking sucks, but at least now I have something that won't make me goddamn miserable.
[ And, then, in his head, eyes still focused primarily on the gun: you never let me down, baby.
The bottom of the rifle lands against the ground as he leans against it, glancing to Wash. ]
[ Typical. Tell Church 'don't draw attention to yourself, don't make contact with ANYONE just yet' and what does he do but waltz into Blue base and start making off with equipment.
Not that he thinks Caboose is likely to do anything about it, even if he caught Church doing it (and hadn't, apparently, because Wash hadn't heard any screaming) but it's still Church flat-out ignoring everything Wash is telling him (has been telling him since day one) for his own goddamn good.
He just bites his tongue on the automatic reprimand and moves ahead. ]
The caves. We'll be able to supply ourselves from Blue base and I doubt our old buddy Sarge will bother to conduct exhaustive recon of this area. With the dead zones nearby it'll be a safer refuge than running blindly out into the sticks and hoping nobody thinks to scan the region for heat signatures.
I wouldn't call you an asshole if you weren't an asshole. Asshole.
[ Church shifts the rifle into his arms, familiar and comforting in its own way, and moves to brush past the son of a bitch toward the direction of the caves. ]
