That's unethical of them on so many levels. Good luck, with whatever next step you take.

Well, I got it changed...and then after I left the room it was changed again to something I specifically told them I couldn't work (though slightly less offensive than the original). I'm probably just going to burn a sick day or two at this point and hope for the best.

Nic, thanks for posting this. It's interesting to get a window into their world from an employee. You are right about everything, especially their complete lack of concern for the people they are torturing with schedules like this. I wish you luck on Black Friday. If I were in your position I would have quit as soon as I saw my mangled schedule, but you're nicer than I am. I hope you can find a kinder place to work in the future.

I wish I could afford to take the moral high ground, but that shit's expensive. I tried to work everywhere before I finally applied to this one.

I'm a spineless jellyfish, but I appreciate your positive spin on it.

I hope you can find a kinder place to work in the future.

Things have actually been picking up at my other job. I may or may not be on the verge of a promotion. (It depends on how successfully my boss pitches the idea to her boss.) If things keep panning out, I'll be able to get by with only the one job before long. I'm eager for a chance to quit "the bad job," as I usually refer to it on Twitter, and give 100% to "the good job." Things are tough right now, but there's actually some hope on my horizon for once and that's enough to keep me going.
