How is this different from the official challenges? These are drabbles only. Also, you will be posting your replies to this post instead of to the community.

So read the prompts, write a story, submit a prompt! But most of all, have fun!

(Not plot spoilery in the least. Mostly just humorous "what if" pre-ME3.)

Three weeks into her incarceration, Shepard woke one morning to find a neatly wrapped package on her desk. Yawning, she combed her fingers through thick, lank strands of hair and padded over on bare feet to inspect the mysterious gift.

As she approached, her omni-tool activated automatically, a chipper voice coming through the audio.

Hey Shep, Kasumi here. How's the detention center? I've been in prison before too; not long, you understand, but at least long enough to let the guard walk away so he wouldn't hear me escape. Anyway, I'd offer to bust you out, but I know you wouldn't accept. You already said "no" on the Normandy before we got to Earth, so I won't press the point. I simply wanted to drop off something that might make your short stint in civilian life more appealing.

Speaking of appealing, who is that marvelous young man who brings you dinner? Just say the word and I'll get both him and Jacob in a wet t-shirt contest faster than you can say "abs ( ... )

Joker's Family skellington1 March 28 2012, 18:05:08 UTC
I know the prompt is practically begging for angst, but I'm going to go pre-ME3 and have a little fluff, instead. I've been working on merging my preME3 headcanon (which includes Joker's aunt) and the ME3 canon.

Now they were here, Joker was happy to be visiting his family. The massive influx of relatives had provided an excellent excuse to book a hotel room instead of staying with his dad, he'd bitten the bullet and figured out a present for Hillary, so the most difficult parts were past. He even had a way to fend off his Aunt's constant attempts to fatten him up. His Feed-the-World Aunt would finally find her match in Rhi Walking-Metabolism Shepard ( ... )

(And now I'm going to be shmoopy, because your prompts prompted it.)

[ME3 AU endgame spoilers]Each second of the clock ticking past tightened the bands squeezing Kaidan's chest. The Normandy's systems still reported biometric readings from Shepard's suit, but they painted an alarming picture. If they couldn't track down her GPS signal soon, they were going to lose her, but navigating the debris field of the destroyed Citadel was a tricky business even in the Kodiak and Cortez's skillful piloting.

"We'll find her, Major," Cortez said in response to Kaidan's hovering behind his seat, trying to re-assure him, but Kaidan heard the tension underlying the words.

"Keep looking." Kaidan's voice was rusty, hoarse from shouting during the battle on earth, choked on the fear clawing at his throat. I can't lose you again hammered inside his mind in time with his pulse, the beat of the migraine pounding at his skull. He fought the urge to throw up. He couldn't leave the read outs

Some types of animals had long fur, Batarians was covered in a short fuzz, but Humans? Liara knew they had this “hair” on top of their head, similar to her tendrils, and she knew the length could vary, but she had never anticipated just how much of it there could be hiding in the normally innocent looking “bun” tightly bound at the back of Shepards head ( ... )

I loved this. :) Especially for the view of what the aliens probably think of the 'oddities' in humans.

(But many women can identify with Shepard's responses :D)

EDI (Spoilers-ish) voyevoda March 28 2012, 18:36:52 UTC
Having a body had been her dream for a long time. And yet she'd always imagined it would be...different.

Perhaps it was her time spent with the Normandy crew. Trading light barbs back and forth with Jeff, having Shepard respect and accept her opinions and advice, her short memories of sentient life had very much been shaped by them. She admired this crew, loved this crew. She was the Normandy, one of the most sought after and admired vessels in the Alliance fleet. For years her shell had stood for the strength, ingenuity and determination of the Alliance and humanity itself. And every step of the way Shepard had been there, helping mold her ( ... )

Oooh. You can be in the ship again, EDI, it's okay!

Or maybe a different body for different occasions, just like changing clothes. Can't see why not. Really, it'd be nice to see more people play with the fact that she's her software, not her hardware.

(I was so angry/sad at how awful Jeff was, there. Ouch, ouch, ouch).

In my head, but not expressed in the prompt, EDI admires Shep so much that upon seeing her body, completing lacking any hint of muscles, she immediately resented it.

(And not to get srs bzzness, but to me, EDI's treatment in ME3 at the hands of the entire crew was the embodiment of 'objectifying'- suddenly her usefullness and whatnot was second fiddle to how ~sexy~ she now looked, cameltoe and all. The interactions between her and Joker felt noticeably different. :C )

Srs bzzness: I was all primed to be offended on Joker's behalf (and oh, I was -- he got turned from capable adult to brittle obnoxious child right before our eyes) but I was absolutely startled by how bad the EDI end was. The crew objectified her and mocked him -- it was a terrible two-fer.

Her writing was frequently good, but everything about her visual design was about aesthetic rather than function -- even her HUD makes no sense for an AI. She also stops talking through the rest of the ship, though technically she should be in both of them. Really, I suppose, I have a problem with her suddenly acting as though the body is 'her' -- it seems to me that AI's should be very dualistic, as legion is. There's the platform, and then there's *them*.

I took a silly approach to fix-it-fic and wrote something where she and Shepard are modifying the sexbot platform to have an integral gun, talking about eyes on the back of it's head, and trying to figure out what to do with the boobs.

When Rhi Shepard was first arrested for the events of Arrival her head was shaved. She wasn't happy about it.

Shepard swore at the mirror. Her hair still wasn't long enough to pull back, and she was damned if she was going to shear it off again, even if it was practical. She pulled a comb through the thick waves, trying to gather it all up a once, and it sprang free in every direction at once.

If only the Reapers had waited another six months to invade, she could get it back in a pony-tail instead of constantly in her eyes. She wrinkled her nose at the absurdity of it. C'mon, girl. They weren't sitting out there in dark space plotting to attack just when you had your hair in your eyes. She didn't have time to struggle her way through putting it in cornrows. She hadn't done it in years, and she'd never been any good at it then -- she'd always had someone help. For now quick-and-dirty would have to do. She grabbed two hair-ties. She could get it out of her eyes, at least ( ... )
