Racial diversity is a challenging thing to create and maintain. But I think it's a very important thing to do. Not nessicarily for cultural reasons or anything, in fact racial diversity is counter-productive to what I think about culture, that people should preserve it and everything, historically that is, Irish should practice Irish customs, ( Read more... )

Mt. Carmel is not the most racially diverse school in the nation at all-- many public magnet schools' student bodies are specificially selected to represent the makeup of the city-- about 35% hispanic, 35% black, 30% white. DUHHHH.

First of all, put your name in the subject line, please, so I can chastise you personally. But, you're right, technically. However, Mt. Carmel isn't forced to do that, it's a natural mix. As you said the people in magnet schools are selected to be that way. Also thats a racial diversirty, Mt. Carmel is relativley diverse not only racially but socially, economically, area wise, everything.
