...in Iqaluit. Yeah, it's a little distance from Toronto.

It's only for four months, because I don't think I could survive temperatures of - 45 Celsius. - 65, with wind chill. That would freeze me where I stood, and scientists hundreds of years later could dig me out of the ice and wonder what brought this clearly equatorial-adapted specimen to the ( Read more... )

Looks like a big adventure indeed, and a pretty cool one, in both senses of the word.

Well, if you have to be dig out of the ice hundreds of years from now, remember that both Skyfire and Megatron went through that same experience and they seemed to be pretty okay when then woke up. Confused and angry, respectively, but they were quite healthy :o)

But it’s great news. I’m sure you’ll do great in your new job, not to mention that you will live quite an experience.

I wish you the best, and please stay in touch.

Hugs!

Thanks! And yes, I'll keep you guys updated, although I may have just a dial-up connection. I might even finish a fic while I'm there, because there might not be too much else to do. :)

Will do! Send me your address as well so I can mail postcards once I get there.

My starting date of employment has been confirmed as the seventh of May, so not much time left. It sounds like real frontier medicine too, not just working on one bench or in one department.

Yikes! I knew you were headed someplace remote, but not THAT remote. Seconding kookaburra1701's request for an address update so we can send care packages!

Well... if I couldn't get any jobs in Canada, my fallback plan was to look for work in Dubai, so at least I'm not actually leaving the country now.

But yeah, it is remote. And I've never lived in a small town before, so that should be an experience as well. I'll send you a postcard once I get there. And maybe bring you back a snowball. :)
