Been away a while. If I had a resolution to post more to LJ, then I'm already failing.
Where has the past week gone? Let's see if I can hunt it down.
Saturday I eschewed watching the Eagles break my heart, and instead went to the latest Sue's Soiree 9. Spent the night drinking and dancing, and trying to avoid being eaten alive by
a room full of middle-aged women. Ah, my top niche audience. Bonnie and Russell from the Hartford Stage party were there, it was fun to catch up with them. Sue was her hostess hotness,
vampy as usual. It was awesome being out with loud and out-of-control people having a good time dancing to a live R&B outfight Michael Cleary Band, then out to the bar. Almost made me think I wasn't in Hartford anymore!
I spent my Monday and Tuesday carting around these two women:
Monday night Julia stayed over, and we had a ton of fun. I made the Christmas meatloaf again, which was even better this time since I put in a lot of cilantro. We watched the new "Family Guy" Star Wars special, listened to music and talked, made a lot of dirty jokes, drank champagne and Duvel. Unfortunately there was no pillow fights or kissing practice, but it still was an awesome sleepover. However, Julia and I didn't too much sleeping since we were up talking all night.
After finally getting ourselves together, we went for lunch at
Siam Cuisine and homemade ice cream at
A.C. Petersen Farms in West Hartford and then off to the A. Dong Asian supermarket. Oh, the sights and smells, the food choices from the other side of the world. The creepy sexy baby figurines, super-cute packaging and a shelf of open meat cleavers. Yes, UNPACKAGED meat CLEAVERS just out on a shelf, for some psycho to take and start hacking people to pieces!
Julia eventually had to go home, and we were sad to see her go. It's funny to meet someone who fits so well into your life as a friend. Just didn't feel like that happens any more, but from the day we first stepped into Brazen Betties, it was meant to be. Rosemary and I kept saying how happy we were that she was here and able to rest, play and be with us in our home. She's the only person we've considered having move in with us. Maybe it'll happen one day :P Don't worry folks, no three-way relationships are in sight yet. But it did feel a little lonely around here looking at the empty chair at the dinner table like Tiny Tim in "A Christmas Carol," wishing she were back!
OK, it's time for bed, and then the second round of Sleepover Week begins Friday night when Martha and Neil are here for the weekend. Looking forward to it!
