I got up this morning and went to Kohl's in Plainville to check out some huge sale they were having. Now, it is known that Kohl's is retail kryptonite to me, as every time I go in there -- every doggone time -- I never leave empty-handed.
So I went to check out the sale. And of course, I ended up buying tons of shit. I had clothes on the brain anyway because I wanted to get some new casual, work-appropriate clothes and give away some of my older things. I ended up buying a new long-sleeve collard shirt for work, a super-rad Spider-Man shirt (for when Rosemary and I take her baby-sitting charges to see "Spider-Man 3" Wednesday), a new track jacket and a chunky-striped polo.
And on top of that, they give me a $10 gift certificate to spend next week. Damn you, Kohl's!
I'll try to take pictures sometime, but it may have to wait until I get back from Philly.
That's right, my first Philly trip in my new car is coming tomorrow. I'll be down from Monday night and leaving Friday morning. As of now, it's pretty busy: Taco Tuesday (are you coming?), "Spider-Man 3" on Wednesday night with the boys, and Rosemary has bingo Thursday so I may try to meet up with some friends. Rosemary is off Wednesday and Thursday, too, so yay for me. Also, I've let myself look like a madman the past couple of weeks because I knew I'd get my favorite haircut at Splittin' Wigz.
Also, ever since a guy I work with told me how he and his wife make their own whole wheat waffles from scratch (we talk about waffles often -- so much that we're close to throwing a waffle party), I have thought, "I can do that!" So I took a waffle recipe that came with my waffle iron and fixed it to use whole wheat flour and some other modifications to cut out fat and cholesterol to make them as healthy as possible.
Whole Wheat Waffles
1/2 cup egg whites
1 1/2 cups skim milk
1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
1 tablespoon vanilla (optional)
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoon sugar
Mix the egg whites, milk, melted butter and vanilla and beat. In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Sift into egg mixture, and mix well. Makes 6-8 waffles.
You can also use this recipe to make pancakes, and they're delicious. They're the closest to diner pancakes that I've ever made.
I may try cornmeal next.
