Officially concussed

Mar 20, 2006 23:47

I just got back from the ER.

It's official: I have post-concussive syndrome. Which means that I had a concussion, and now feeling the effects.

The good news: I get a day off from work tomorrow, a day filled with ibuprofen, water and sleep.

I got concussed back in 2004 when I whomped my head against a countertop at full acceleration about two weeks after I had a neck strain from a rear-end collision.

Get lots of rest; I was so weirdly woozy for a week and change afterward that I could barely think straight. Wonder if I can track that down in the archives to see if there's anything helpful in there.

*hugs to you both* I'm just glad that nothing worse happened, but still teh suq for concussed noggins and totalled cars. Bleah.

Heh. Thanks for nagging.

I just plain didn't want to go; I knew it was concussion or concussion-like. And I also just plain didn't want to do the ER in Philly. In Bristol, I spent only two hours. In Philly, it would have been an easy 4-6.

I knew I had to go eventually, but unfortunately I inherited my father's tolerance for pain and discomfort. Time and time again, something will be wrong with me, and it's only after the fact that I find out how bad it was.

Yikes. Well, I'm glad you went to the doctor -- but I have to agree with lormagins. You can't always tell the effects of an accident right away, which is why it always makes sense to get checked out immediately, even when you THINK you're fine.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yup. And Saturday, I weighed doing six hours of ER in Philly (busy ERs wherever you go) versus two hours in Bristol (small town, not-busy ER), I wanted to get checked here.
