I love your review! I loved the Queen's outfits, they were unbelievable. Right before she kills Snow White's father, she says that she replaced a Queen and in time would have been replaced herself, so maybe she saw that and felt that was how all men were? It seems though that something else might have happened to have caused her to feel the way she does.
Thank you! Guh, the Queen's wardrobe was to die for! I loved her crowns especially, the different designs they used. Colleen Atwood is a national treasure.
I get the feeling Ravenna loved and lost much the same way Regina from Once Upon A Time did. She was the most interesting character in the movie, so I would have happily sat through more of her backstory than say, all the scenes with the dwarves.
Glad you finally seen it. I like the movie in a personal level, but looking at the film in a critic's point of view I could see many flaws and problems with this film. However, I feel like it was okay at the same time. This director was previously directing commercials and not films. This film is his first try at making a movie. For being his first try, it wasn't bad.
I think my biggest problem with the film is how they edited it or lack of editing in general. Some of scene felt like it drags us on for a long time. I do admit I wanted to see a bit more character development on the huntsman, but I think the movie wanted to focus on Snow White trying to get her kingdom back is more important to focus on. However, I heard rumors of a possible sequel, so maybe they're saving some huntman material for the next movie (I'm being very optimism here)
I liked the movie because it was competent: it was entertaining and visually stunning for two hours, and I appreciated the thought that went into the story's mythology and script. It wasn't the greatest movie I'll probably see in 2012 and I'd recommend it with caveats, but I'll count it a favorite I've seen so far this year
