Oh goodness, this is so very touching. Without even reading her tumblr yet, I feel so very inspired and proud of this woman, and wish her all the luck in the world. These are the people we and the parks need more of; people who genuinely believe in the Magic, and live their lives by it.

Also, this is the second time I've seen these banners today, and they still make me smile and my heart swell up. Pictures like these, and people like Kryssy, remind me why I love Disney so much, and how brighter the world is because the Magic exists.

I worry about her getting burnt out or getting her spirit crushed in the Disney Corp machine, but she seems to be going in with her eyes open. I do wish her nothing but luck as she seems to have found something that genuinely makes her happy and her happiness is spreading :)

Sometimes I find it hard to admit that Disney does create Magic, a pure joy for people - even for me - and that's why I love it and am still so involved with it. Trite but true, even here ^_^

It's very easy to dwell on the uglier aspects of Disney as a company, and to feel cynical and disillusioned. But it's not the Company I love, it's the Kingdom. The characters and movies created by so many creative, funny and talented people that have brought pure joy, who've moved people to tears and made children and adults alike believe, just for a moment. That's the Disney I love and focus on. :)

Yeeeeah, as soon as someone says "I WANNA BE A CHARACTER", a flood of emotions rush to my head as I've known people who've worked really hard to get that role as they really wanted it, and I think deserved it. But more often than not, I've known people who spent more time criticizing the people who did get the roles thinking they can do/look better, stepping on everyone to get what they want when they get into the college program and didn't get character performer, character validation like you mentioned, obsessing over their features to the point of asking everyone they meet if they look like Belle or Ariel a character to increase their ego all for their ~*~*DREEEEAMS*~*~ ...but don't put in any of the OTHER work that role requires. I'm cynical most of the time, and slightly amused as that role isn't as glamorous as it looks (neither are the trailers they shove them in during breaks either *RUINS EVERYTHING*), but hearing stories liks this reminds me not everyone is doing this for the Disney fame (as they'll find out not everyone in ( ... )

I never feel good when someone says their biggest dream is to be a Face Character - especially when that's the end in and of itself, i.e. validation, because I've come to think of it as sweltering, sunburning, tiny-hand grubbing job where you have to entertain over-privileged tourists and create all the vacation memories they demand of you while risking arbitrary termination.

So it was a system shock to not only find someone who wanted to do it for OTHER REASONS (she genuinely likes kids and wants to spend time with them) but to also cheer on her potential competition. And even more impressive is while she's only expressed wanting to be Ariel or Belle, but I don't think I've seen her say a bad word about any other Princess/female character or over-dramatize about what she'll do if she doesn't get either role. She in fact expects to go in as a "fur" first because of seniority. This girl has an amazing grasp of reality rarely seen in our fandom.

That's it - I think she's a unicorn. We should ready the hunt.

Oh, it is. It is exactly as you described it is. But it's one of those things where you have to dwell on the good stuff it brings and creates to ignore what you encounter on the daily bases. You have to do that with a lot of jobs, but I don't think a lot of Disney fans understand that. That role is really glamourized as is the parks, but I hear "HOW CAN IT BE BAD?" all the time. It's like, wow, you haven't heard all the creepy stalking stories face characters have to deal with? How have you missed them!

You'd be surprised to hear how many people in character roles don't like kids XD. That is the strangest thing to me.

...she understands and doesn't mind being fur first?? Holy shit, she is a unicorn. Fur gets no respect, man.

I am now horrifically curious - is it stalking inside or outside the park? D:

It's that exactly - people want to work as a character but they don't think it's going to be a job - it's gonna be magic all the time and they're never going to resent having to go to work.

There's something I've always wanted to ask about the parks - is there any warning system set up where a guest can avoid character interaction? I've thought maybe there's a button or something a guest could wear, but then I've always thought about this abstractly.

Aw this is a lovely story.

I agree with you at the start. I have really only ever encountered crazies who want to be Disney face characters. People who appear to have zero talent and are just plain horrible. Not good traits for a Disney Princess or heroine.

This lady on the other hand, seems to have her head is in the right place and she's worked hard for it.

It was my feel good moment of the day XD

It also brought into sharp relief the fact that there are people who just want to be part of Disney abstractly (the dreamers/loudmouths) and there are those who are doing everything within their capacity to be closer to that dream (the dreamers/workers). The biggest difference seems not only to be effort but the willingness to make yourself vulnerable and bounce back from rejection.

I have so much admiration for this one girls because I can see her trying and sometimes failing but often succeeding with a sunny attitude. It's a heartwarming story in itself.

Thank you for these posts, hun! Seeing your graphic and the banner of the tiny princesses inspired me to make a bbb post XD

I've noticed a lot of the face characters who write blogs are really sweet :)

This girl who kept a livejournal while auditioning for face and being a character was also so sweet, encouraging and even laid back.

A lot different than the girls I've met on lj who are stiving to be face characters and are determined to get the role, no matter the cost to themselves or others. Generalizing again, but anyway XD

You're welcome! I was feeling inspired and wanted to spread the joy around, so I'm glad you caught it, too! :D

Oh, she is a sweetheart! And spells her name Jacquie? I wonder if unusual name spellings is some kind of trend for character's friends.
