As predicted, Loscon is being weird. Good, mostly, but weird. Got pounce-hugged by snobahr in the lobby, and much later had a good conversation in the elevator lobby. Spent a lovely couple of hours talking to impresaria1 by the pool as she watched her three

As predicted, Loscon is being weird.

And this is news why? (I'd say the same about any con.)

At Consonance 2003 the concom took the guests out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. (I was Interfilk guest.) One person -- I won't give name because I don't have permission -- is very allergic to mushrooms and took special care to ask the waiter if the dish contained them; he assured us it did not.

You can guess the rest. Beginning of reaction, ER run, etc.

It turns out that the Chinese have different words for "mushroom" and "fungus". She now caries a piece of paper with the appopriate warning in Chinese...

Probably still won't work all the time.
