Just tried to "Post to community". Can't find a place on the page to say which community. Please explain or fix?

Up near the top of the new update page, just below your username, is a dropdown menu labeled "Post to". It should list all the communities you belong to.

If it doesn't, it's a bug. You may have to SHIFT-reload or do whatever else it takes to make your browser bypass the cache, if you've used the update page recently.
