I need the low-latency kernels from DeMuDi, which is based on Debian. Plus the fact that Debian is what I use everywhere else these days. Ubuntu is much too desktop-oriented for my taste, and in any case I don't think they deal too well with VIA CPU's. For the C3's, at least, I find myself having to use kernels built for 386.
There's also the fact that I have a Debian mirror both at home and at work. It's amazing how fast you can install Debian over gigabit ethernet. Or even 100MHz.
Oh, yeah. Minimal Debian ought to take about 3-4min in the download phase over GigE. (Based on $PREVIOUSCOMPANY doing full-house "Everything" Fedora Core 4 installs in 10... )
