High-order bit, out of sequence. I got a call this morning from (contract agency) $K saying I have the job at $D!!! There's a slight chance I may be able to swing something at $T, but I'm not going to count on it -- the timing is rotten, and I'm not in a position to take even a medium-risk chance over a sure thing.

Congrats on the job with $D. You had mentioned before it was consulting-related? Is there an end-time for that? Any chance of temp-to-perm?

If it is a shorter-term job, you can continue to look around at $T and other letters of the alphabet while you're working at $D. :)

Thanks. It'll be a 12-18 month contract -- I'll be getting details today, I hope -- and the agency says they have about an 80% hire rate at $D.

I'll definitely start looking at options a couple of months before the contract ends; with a 12-month contract I wouldn't want to start any earlier. But I probably will try to get involved in some open-source projects.
