I bought my current pair of NB sneakers at a Nordstrom's.
I have fun finding shoes. My true shoe size is 9-1/2 A, and I have little arch support. I've found my choices are basically New Balance, Rockport and Florsheim.
A Google search on 'Keen hiking boots men' showed that REI has them for sale online, the brand's website is keenfootwear.com, and consumerresearch gave them specific mention in their ratings.
While you're up here you could check out what Market St Shoes has (that's where I found my first pair of Keens), or we could go to the Brooks Outlet store; several of their shoes have decent foot support (my podiatrist specifically recommended the Addiction Walker, and that's what I just got a new pair of). That's only a month away.
Still, if you know what size and model has worked well for your feet before, online ordering is probably the most efficient way to go.
Heh. It's true that Keen still makes hiking boots, but the ones I really liked, the Brooklyn Mid, which had plain leather uppers, have been hard to find of late. REI no longer carries them.
They do appear to be available directly, though; I should ordered some before they go away again.
keenfootwear.com comes back with an XML parsing error in Firefox, but it works in Chrome.
Big 5 Sporting Goods also carries a variety of New Balance stuff and a variety of hiking boots. I'm planning to go shoe/boot shopping there soon. I have a wide foot and usually find men's shoes more comfortable. My brother wore a 12 B - veritable skis.
Next time you're up in the city, On the Run (9th Ave between Irving and Judah) has a very good selection of supportive, functional shoes and boots. Despite the name, it's not by any means just for runners. They don't carry a lot of inexpensive items, but I've had very good luck there for years.
