I don't know which BT headset you're using but if you can afford to upgrade, get the best Plantronics you can afford. They are the folks who make Telephone Operator type headsets. I have one of their cheapy ones and never have a problem with shielding or disconnects, even with the phone in my purse and the headset on.
It's a low-end Plantronics; Fry's had them on sale. I think the disconnects are due to where the antenna is relative to my hand; the handset is obviously designed to be held in the left hand; I'm left-handed, so it ends up in my right hand most of the time.
