Cindy had a difficult upbringing.  Her father was incarcerated and her mother had substance abuse issues.  When her sister, who is three years older, graduated from high school; Cindy was basically left to her own devices.  So finishing high school was not even a thought when she could run wild with friends and party.

Ugh. It's so hard to be in relationships with folks who appear to take and take and yet don't reciprocate. Cindy still has a bit of growing up to do, it seems.

Such a tragic story. I can sense the difficulty in this situation - sympathy for Cindy because of the upbringing she had, no role models to help her make smart decisions, and a desire to trust family... But I feel like a hard rock these days because whilst I can feel sympathy and empathy for the situation, my desire to not be taken advantage of after so many years of feeling unappreciated tends to win out, and I find myself with very few people I'm willing to help out of the blue.
