So, values can't exist in a state of nature. The fact that the sun shines on trees is just that, a fact. It doesn't have moral standing, or a goodness, or a badness. Saying that it is good for the tree means only that sun is something that a tree needs/uses to do what it does. Or maybe that trees are dependent on the sun, both in a biological sense
