It definitely seems odd that WFC is this weekend and I'm not going to be there.

I'm not currently planning on going next year either, though I'll be substituting a trip to Worldcon in Montreal.

I won't be there either! I hope you'll be attending Bittercon. Although I might go next year, seeeing how it's in the US instead of Canada.

I'd probably be strongly considering WFC next year if I wasn't planning on spending the time/money on Worldcon. All other things being equal, I'll always pick WFC over Worldcon, but with Worldcon 2009 being only a five hour drive away in an exceedingly cool city, and WFC 2009 being a cross-country flight away, I think Worldcon wins. The year after, when Worldcon is in Australia and WFC is in Ohio, things will flip back to their normal state.

I feel the same way about missing WFC two years in a row, but I think at this point I'm expecting both the schedule and finances to not work out for doing both.
