Wow. I didn't expect you to get this far!

I think MFMM is better in the second season. The arc with Foyle was my least favourite aspect of the first season and I was glad to see the back of it. There is a story arc of sorts in Season 2, but it's less obtrusive. I'm really curious to see where they go with Season 3, which is in production atm.

(That second random WIP line sounds very you, btw. It becomes ten times more intriguing than it would otherwise have been thanks to that word "wrong".)

Oh, I'm doing fine with Miss Fisher - as long as I keep up the Notice-Me-Not charm on the "murder" and "mysteries" aspects of the whole thing, allowing me to enjoy Phryne's clothes, Melbourne scenery, 1920s props, etc. - So far, my favourite characters are Dot and Mr Butler (because he kicks arse, and I really hope he's got a fascinating backstory, yet to be revealed).

Still pining for Carson's Law. Delighted to see the guy who played Robert Carson pop up briefly in MFMM. (Did you spot him? In the Ruddy Gore episode.)

Second random WIP line is from my tinkering with Mansfield Park AU possibilities. A scene with Henry Crawford and Maria ex-Rushworth.

I didn't spot him! I'll have to take another look. I did spot another face from long ago in there though: the Chinese grandmother was played by Amanda Ma, one of the children (well, teenagers) from The Lost Islands, which made me feel about a hundred years old.

If you're enjoying the costumes, you might find this post I made on tumblr interesting: http://luthienebonyx.tumblr.com/post/87490953563/miss-fishers-costume-exhibition-q-a-with It was a terrific exhibition, too. The costumes stand up to close scrutiny, unlike other TV costumes that I've seen exhibited over the years.

Glad you're enjoying Dot. Her development over the episodes is fun to watch. I was intending to write four short scenes from four different POVs for Yuletide. Instead, I ended up with 10,000 words of Dot. She ambushed that fic and took off with it - in the sweetest way possible, of course.

Ooh, ooh, another Carson's Law moment! Godfrey's secretary turned up as Hilly in the Queenscliffe episode. :D

Yes, I'm now three episodes into Season 2 and going strong. Loved your post about the costumes - thanks! And I look forward to checking out your Dot fic once I get through the remaining episodes.

(Has anyone paired Dot with Neville Longbottom yet?)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fic! What a delightful idea. Somehow it had never occurred to me, but fandom always provides.

I enjoy the Thor/Loki relationship, and trickster figures appeal to me in general, but nothing else about the MCUniverse has lured me in. Superheroes aren't my preferred version of magic, I fear.

Yes, isn't fandom lovely that way? :D

Permit me to point you at a classic fic: Abracadabra by Lyricality. (Charlie/Wonka, 14,000 words. Summary: Eight years after that fateful day in February, Charlie has finally learned how to want. Wanting isn’t the same as knowing how to take, however.)

I'm with you on enjoying tricksters. Superheroes? Kind of been-there-done-that; I was all superheroed out by the end of the 1990s, and since then I've cheerfully ignored all the new Spiderman, Batman, Superman etc. movies/series. The current sprint through MCU is more about wanting the background knowledge for interacting with people at DW/LJ and reading current fics.

I'll give the Charlie/Wonka fic a try, but I see it's heavily based on the Tim Burton version with Johnny Depp, and I, um… well, let's just say I'm Team Gene Wilder all the way.

And ooh, I see the second excerpt is for Persuasion fanfic! Why, yes, I'll take an extra helping of that, too, thank you very much.

Which historical (or Shakespearean) Edmund is speaking in the first snippet?

As for the MCU movies, you have more stamina than I.

Hope the Depp-fic wasn't an entirely regrettable experience for you. And the Wonka poll was totally in your honour! :D

Not Persuasion, I'm afraid... when it comes to fic, my Austen drug of choice is Mansfield Park: the complex, ambiguous, frustrating beast that's been driving readers nuts for 200 years.

Though I'd like, if I may, to suggest some Persuasion/Mansfield Park crossover reading. Are you familiar with the work of ionescribens/Ione at all? Great writer for Age of Sail and Austenfic. In The Dancing Monkeys, Henry Crawford finds himself aboard the Laconia with William Price, Captain Wentworth and Dick Musgrove.

As for Edmund - neither! He's from the Chronicles of Narnia.

Ooh, I love all of these. I would be particularly interested in the second one, that's quite a teaser line! And by that, you of course know I mean the lovely lofty speech of the POV character, not the bosom. ;)

Parts of the MCU own my soul, but there are definitely films in the series that made me say "Ugh" or "Meh." I would be delighted to hear your take!

(Also, I love Agents of SHIELD; I don't know what everyone else seemed to want from it that they're not getting, but I loved it from episode one and still love it.)

Oh, the Incredible Hulk got a "Meh" from me (brain still wedded to the 1970s TV version) - and the Guardians of the Galaxy scored a full "WTF?"

Do tell... did the fandom take one look at Hugo Weaving unmasked and say: "Sunburned Voldemort!" My villain has no nose... How does he smell?...

I've watched two episodes of Agents of SHIELD now, and yes, I like it so far. Good ensemble potential.

I'm ever so tickled by your "lovely lofty speech" reaction - and that protagonist would simply accept it as his due. He's Henry Crawford from Mansfield Park, and the wrong woman is Maria Rushworth, formerly Miss Bertram. They've just run off together, as per canon.

I do find Henry a fascinating character - he's got issues upon issues, and his theme song would be "Oops, I Did It Again." In MCU terms, he's Stark minus the genius.
