The big black cat just threw up a hairball. Must be time to get things rolling.
Welcome to the fifth Cat's Birthday HP Drabblethon!
It's an exchange. It's HP-only. It's eclectic. It all happens in one weekend - starting NOW.
And it usually happens in April, but better in July than not at all, right? FYI, the cats (who can't read calendars) are 10 years old (Bestia the Sorting Cat) and five years old (Imperio).
How this works: Think of a prompt for somebody else, and the Sorting Cat will give you somebody else's prompt in exchange.
ETA: Poll closed! It's past 6 p.m. British time, so the Drabblethon has stopped accepting prompts now. The Sorting Cat is doing her thing. Assignments will be posted at midnight British time.
The prompt-collecting poll is over here. Go add your prompt!
If you make a mistake or change your mind, you can edit your answer by clicking this link again and re-submitting.
By throwing a prompt into that poll, you're signing up for this 'thon. That means a commitment to write 100 words (at least), this weekend, on whatever prompt the Sorting Cat throws at you. Fair warning: the prompts get very diverse, and you could end up with anything. Blame the Cat.
Go read
Cat's Birthday Drabblethons 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 to see how eclectic this gets. "Anything" means gen, slash, het, crack, angst, fluff, smut, humor - any genre, character, pairing, whatever. The only restriction: no crossovers - must be HP.
Sign-up poll posted at 6 p.m. British time on July 24, open for 24 hours. (ETA: Time's up! Poll closed!) At 6 p.m. on July 25 the poll will shut down and the Sorting Cat will use her Paw of Doom on your prompts.
Six hours later, at midnight on July 25/26, I'll post the list of who's writing what. You'll have 24 hours to produce your drabble and post it as a comment there: until midnight strikes on July 26/27. Any prompts still unwritten at that point will become available as an open challenge for anyone.
We're using the Hogwarts timezone - British time. [
What time is it over there now?]
By contributing a prompt for somebody else to drabble on, you're also solemnly swearing to write 100 words yourself on a prompt contributed by somebody else. Word limit not strictly enforced - okay to write more. Fan-artists may draw instead of writing - you decide what the art equivalent of a drabble is.
Have fun! :D
